I hate the modern R&B stuff, by Whitney Houston and Whitney-wannabes, where they butcher the songs in an attempt to show off they're vocal "chops". Hey! Newsflash! The song's not about you, toots! Just sing the damn thing.

Another xmas thing I hate is small kids who know 3 or 4 lines of a song (at least one of them wrongly), then sing those lines over and over and over and over and over and over and over and...

On the other hand, I can barely wait for Thanksgiving Day, so that I can bring out my copy of Vince Guaraldi's "Charlie Brown Christmas" album. It is simply sublime, and it goes back on the shelf on Dec 26th, not to be touched again for 11 months.

So-called Christmas music takes on a different spin overseas. As with American pop culture in general, certain songs, films, tv shows, etc. inexplicably are huge hits while other seemingly better ones are completely unknown.

Eg, everyone in Korea knows Friends (and watches it to improve their English) but only a small handful know of Seinfeld.

So for Christmas music, a few songs are completely overdosed on, most noticeably the Wham/George Michael song that goes "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart But the very next day, You gave it away". You can go from the bus to the coffeeshop to the department store and hear it at each spot. If it weren't so nauseating, it would be amazing.
